1. IMBOLC (THE CLEANSING)
The serpent will come from the hole
On the brown Day of Bríde,
Though there should be three feet of snow
On the flat surface of the ground
As spring lays her robe upon our landscapes
Era of lambing has arisen
Spring sowing commences
Blooms the blackthorn!!
Of hearth and home,
Light comes upon us with its radiant heat from heart fires!
Divination, Bonfires of purification
Imbolc... the cleaning starts
Holy wells swollen, ready for the feast!
While walking 'sunwise' around the well, let us leave offerings
Water from the well
Bless us on this sunrise
To earth and sea our milk poured into the ground and porridge poured into the sea!!
2. BREO-SAIGHEAD (TRIPLE GODDESS)
Born on the sunrise of Dagda, the earth god, and Boann, the goddess of fertility.
Of the Tuatha Dé Danann
Travels within the misty waters
Flames from head ... the wise one came upon us
Communion, she unites with the cosmos.
Water essence fo life
Mother of all
Inspiration to the sick, she heals
Amogst the festive fires and melting snow
Arose our deity, our water and milk.
Breeze of the sea turns to warmth
Breath of Brigid emcompsasses our hearts
Melts our fears and pains
Knowledge and divination are amongst us all
Lift your souls to stars and mist
On this night of solace and bliss!
3. REUL-IUIL BRIDE (STAR OF BRIGID)
Set on their chests, placed on the heart star of brigid.
As the maidens carry in procession, singing a hymn
Adorned of white with hair unbound
symbol of purity and youth.
Dance and merrymaking in place, this day reminds of brisk harsh times
Now left behind.
Crown, Brigid's shield' and cross made of rushes.
Strawboys and music
Give us protection against fire, lightning, illness and spirits.
Hail Brigid! ;
Swiftly as the bright sun springs out from behind a dark cloud!
Not of ragged clothing.. she wore a white robe adorned with spangles of shining silver.
Over her heart gleamed a star-like crystal, pure as her thoughts and bright as joy
The guiding star of Bride
Her golden-brown hair hung down to her waist in gleaming curls
decked with fair spring flowers
